Truffles or lobster? Cork’s fanciest hot dog stand is *the one* to try this week

Make that lunch date.
Hot dogs have officially entered their luxury era — and we are absolutely here for it.
Truffle Dog is now serving up outrageously indulgent gourmet hot dogs in The Fifth Quarter, Cork city every Thursday to Saturday, and this is not your average “grab something quick” situation. This is full-on fancy food in a bun, but make it affordable; prices start from just €6.
First up, there’s the signature Truffle Dog, a juicy Loughnane’s sausage served in a pillow-soft steamed brioche bun, topped with truffle aioli, black truffle pecorino cheese, fresh chives and a drizzle of truffle oil.

Other options include a Barbacoa Chilli Dog loaded with rich, slow-cooked flavour, jalapeno relish and tortilla chips (pictures), and a Decadent Dog topped with lobster and crayfish for anyone looking for an exciting al fresco lunch.
And then there are the chips; they’re huge. You can plump for Truffle Chips, Pancheddar Chips, or go simple with a tray of plain, triple-cooked with a shake of Maldon sea salt. Exquisite.
For anyone who still believes hot dogs belong exclusively at petrol stations or sports matches, Truffle Dog is here to change your mindset completely.
