This much-loved interiors and gift shop is closing (to move 6km down the road)

We can never resist a browse when we’re in Ballinspittle.
But take note if you love the interiors and gift shop Chalk and Easel as much as we do; you’ll no longer find it at the address where it’s been a mainstay for the last decade.

The shop’s owner Emily Connell has shut the doors on her quiet corner of the village for the last time before a big move 6km down the road, where a brand new Chalk & Easel will open in the seaside town of Kinsale in the coming weeks.
“I’m sure lots of you already know but just incase you haven’t heard our new location will be in the beautiful building that was known to most as Patsy’s Corner.” Emily shared on social media.
“Big boots to fill and I can only hope that some day people talk about their memories in my shop as fondly as they speak about Patsy and her delicious food (lemon meringue pie being the most talked about).”

Emily said the move was tinged with nostagia for the shop’s first home: “I am so excited to be opening in Kinsale and also really sad to be leaving Ballinspittle after 10 amazing years but I truly know things happen for a reason and our time here has sadly come to an end.
“We will close here for the last time on Monday 4th May and spend a few weeks getting organised to open the new shop in Kinsale.”
