Work is about to start on a decked bridge and riverside boardwalk in Cork city

Take note if you cross any bridges en route to work.
Commuters in Cork can expect some disruption from next week as work gets underway on a new riverside boardwalk along Union Quay — but the long-term result promises a major upgrade for the area.
The project forms part of the Morrison’s Island Public Realm and Flood Defence Scheme, which will see significant improvements to Trinity Bridge. Planned works include repairs to the bridge piers, widening of the structure, and the installation of high-specification timber decking.
The brand new riverside boardwalk will be constructed along Union Quay, enhancing pedestrian access and creating a more attractive waterfront space.
Bridge closure
To facilitate the works, Trinity Bridge will be closed to pedestrians from Monday, April 27th until late summer. During this time, those crossing the south channel of the river are advised to use either Parliament Bridge or Parnell Bridge.

Traffic restrictions will also be in place. The section of Union Quay between Copley Street and South Terrace will be closed to vehicles from the same date. Access to Georges Quay will instead be via South Terrace, with motorists asked to follow diversion signage and allow extra time for their journeys. The remainder of Union Quay will remain open as normal.
City officials have apologised for the temporary inconvenience and thanked the public for their patience as work progresses on the project.
