Forecasters say the period of unsettled weather could bring blustery conditions across much of the country, including County Cork, with some disruption possible throughout the day.
Difficult travel conditions possible
The national meteorological service is warning that the strong winds could lead to challenging travelling conditions, particularly on exposed routes and coastal areas. Potential impacts outlined in the warning include:
- Difficult travelling conditions for motorists
- Debris or loose outdoor objects being displaced by gusts
- Fallen branches or trees in some areas
Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items such as bins, garden furniture, and trampolines ahead of the windy conditions.
Windy Thursday ahead
The warning covers the daytime period on Thursday, when the strongest gusts are expected as a southwesterly airflow moves across Ireland.
While Status Yellow warnings are considered the lowest level of weather alert issued by Met Éireann, they can still bring hazardous local conditions, particularly during periods of strong gusts.
Motorists in Cork City and across the wider county are advised to take extra care on the roads and allow additional time for journeys during the warning period.
