WEATHER: Milder days ahead for Cork as temperatures climb to 14C this week

It’s feeling a little less wintry out there this morning.
According to the latest from Met Éireann, this week is shaping up to be milder than of late, with temperatures climbing as high as 14°C by Wednesday. Not bad at all for late February.
Today (Monday) is mostly cloudy across Munster, with rain and drizzle already making its way from the southwest and spreading across the county through the morning. Expect patchy light rain, drizzle and a bit of mist lingering into the afternoon and evening. Highs will reach a fairly comfortable 10 to 12°C.
Tonight stays cloudy with more patchy rain and drizzle. It’ll be noticeably mild overnight too, with lows of 7 to 9°C and moderate to fresh southerly breezes.
Tuesday continues in much the same vein — lots of cloud, bits of drizzle and mist, with more persistent rain developing in the west later in the day and spreading inland through the evening. Temperatures again hitting 10 to 12°C.
Midweek high of 14°C
Wednesday is the standout day temperature-wise. Morning rain will gradually clear eastwards, followed by heavy showers — and yes, there’s even a chance of thunder and hail. But the big headline? Highs of 11 to 14°C, making it the mildest day of the week. Not exactly BBQ weather, but we’ll take it.
Showers will ease off Wednesday night with some drier, clearer breaks before more rain develops in the west overnight. Thursday brings showery rain spreading east in the morning, followed by heavier rain pushing north-eastwards later, with the possibility of strong winds. Highs of 10 to 13°C.
