Three o’clock crowned Cork’s favourite time for Christmas dinner

The great Christmas dinner debate has finally been settled (sort of).
A new survey shows that when it comes to tucking into the big festive feast, Cork families are firmly team 3pm. Almost a third of households say that’s the sweet spot — late enough to let the morning chaos pass, early enough to justify seconds.
The tradition doesn’t stop at timing either. Across Cork, most families are keeping things classic:
Turkey still reigns supreme at 58%
Roast potatoes are the nation’s favourite trimming at 39%
Stuffing follows at 20%
And nearly seven in 10 stick with a fully traditional spread
As for who’s around the table? Immediate family leads at 73%, with partners and extended relatives filling out the rest of the seats — and probably fighting over the last roastie.
While every household has its quirks, the research shows one thing clearly: Cork knows what it likes at Christmas, and it’s sticking with the tried-and-true formula that keeps everyone full, happy, and ready for a nap by 5pm.
“Christmas looks different in every household, but this research shows there are a few things we all share.” said Hannah Duxbury, Head of Culinary at HelloFresh, who complied the survey results.
“Most of us reach for the classics, but we are not shy about adding our own twists. That mix of old and new shapes how we build our recipes at HelloFresh. We want to give people the favourites they trust and a few fresh ideas when they want them, all with less stress in the kitchen.”
