Bring the kids to meet a real astronaut this weekend during Space Week Cork

The countdown is on.
Space Week Festival is back for 2025, and it’s bringing some truly out-of-this-world guests to town this Saturday, October 4th in the MTU Cork School of Music, Union Quay, Cork City.
This year’s star lineup includes astronaut Dan Tani, along with space experts Dr. Lisa McNamee and Dr. Paul Reynolds. They’ll be joining Dr. Niall Smith, Head of Research at MTU and Head of the BCO, for a relaxed chat about what it’s really like living in space.
After the talk, the audience will get a chance to ask their own burning questions—perfect for curious kids and space-loving adults alike.

But that’s not all. Once the talk wraps up, the fun continues in the CSM foyer, where families can dive into hands-on workshops and explore interactive displays. Think rockets, science experiments, and plenty of ways for young explorers to get inspired about space.
Good to know:
- The astronaut talk is free, but you’ll need to book your tickets in advance.
- The foyer exhibitions are open from 12 noon to 2 pm, no booking required—just drop in and explore!
- The whole event is family-friendly and designed for all ages.
So, if your little one dreams of blasting off into space (or if you just want to meet someone who’s actually been there), don’t miss this cosmic celebration.
