Alert the troops; Oktoberfest is back on.

While the annual booze-up that is Oktoberfest Beag was cancelled this year, a new event celebrating German beer has popped up in its place.

The Cork Ale Trail is set to host their very own Oktoberfest across five of Cork’s most prestigious craft beer venues from Thursday, October 11th to Saturday, October 13th.

Bradleys Off Licence, The Franciscan Well Brewpub, The Friary Bar, The Bierhaus and The Abbots Ale House will join together to run events such as The Beer Mile, with live music and tasting throughout the weekend.

The Beer Mile, a boozy walking trail, will kick start proceedings on Thursday, October 11th at 6.30pm.

“The walking trail will start in Bradleys with an exclusive tasting of a German style beer.” explains Kate Clancy of the Franciscan Well Brewpub.

“Here the participants will also be given a Cork Ale Trail t-shirt and a stein glass, which they can use in each bar along the trail.”

Class. 

The trail will pay a visit to each venue with giveaways and German style beers in each stop thanks to sponsor Noreast, importers of some of Germany’s best known beers such as Erdinger, Krombacher, Fischer’s and Union.
