This is how long you can expect Cork’s July heatwave to continue

Lads, it’s only glorious out there.
And there’s plenty more July sunshine to come.
Met Éireann says we’re in for highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees in Cork today, with dry weather right up until the weekend.
Thursday will be dry and sunny as the mercury rises as high as 26 degrees,
“High pressure will continue to build this week with warm and settled weather continuing. Becoming very warm or even hot from Thursday.” said a forecaster.

After a foggy start on Friday, widespread sunshine will likely develop, becoming hot in sunshine with highest temperatures of 22 to 27 or 28 degrees, all in light southerly breezes.
Saturday and Sunday will be hot with widespread sunshine, and highest temperatures of 23 to 27 or 28 degrees.
There is some rain likely next week, although temperatures will remain at around 21C and above throughout the week.
Record-breaker?
As the European heatwave sweeps across Ireland this week, the bookies have reported a flurry of bets on the all-time Irish temperature record being broken – forcing the odds to be dramatically cut.
Met Éireann has confirmed that June was the fourth hottest on record, and the mercury is now poised to climb again. As a result, the odds on Ireland recording its highest-ever temperature before the year is out have been shortened to just 4/1, down from 12/1 at the start of the year.
The historic benchmark of 33.3°C, logged at Kilkenny Castle back in 1887, remains untouched in the record books. But as heat builds across the continent, Irish punters are sensing 2025 could finally be the year that milestone is eclipsed.
“If the forecasts hold up, we could be in for a real scorcher of a summer and punters are getting all the more hot on the prospect of the all-time record being left in the shade.” said BoyleSports spokeperson, Lawrence Lyons.
Temperatures between 31-32°C are currently the 5/4 favourite bracket, while a potential temperature between 33°C and the record 33.3°C is now a 7/2 shot.
