This little pub meeting could be the beginnings of The Irish Stout Museum

Cork has a long tradition of brewing stout.
Now one local stout fan is sharing his plans to make Cork the home of The Irish Stout Museum, with an event planned this weekend to gauge interest.
Adam O’Brien presents ‘Introducing the Irish Stout Museum,’ a proof-of-concept tourist attraction, this Sunday, March 16th, upstairs at The Roundy on Castle Street.
“I have been developing the idea for some time and bit the bullet to put on a small exhibition of information regarding stout, breweries, impact on Ireland and a small collection of items.” Adam told Yay Cork.
“The purpose of this endeavour is to get more tourists into the city centre and improve the vibrancy/offerings in Cork. I will be working to develop the Irish Stout Museum into a fully fledged museum with a collection and offering tours around the exhibits and pubs around town in future.”
Adam’s long-term plan for a permanent Stout Museum include the creation of a committee or trust and start the hunt for a viable permanent location in the city centre.
It’s early days, but the idea could prove a popular tourist attraction for Cork.

Adam, who works in software development and runs the monthly entrepreneur meet-up in the city, has an avid interest in stout and its rich history:
“I live in Cork, I pass the Heineken and Beamish & Crawford breweries almost every day. I feel that there are stories, from all over Ireland, to be told and recorded in an unbiased fashion.
“I’ve been to the Guinness Storehouse, it’s great and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ireland. I want to bring some of that to Cork. I want to explore the impact of stout at home and internationally – it’s what we are known for.”
Admission on Sunday is €5 and you can book a slot here.
