Mild weekend in store for Cork as temperatures creep up to 16C by Sunday

It’s nearly time to pack away the thermals.
Met Éireann is predicting plenty of pleasant spring weather for the weekend, with temperatures “mild for the time of year.”
Today, Friday, we’re kicking things off with a classic Irish “mostly cloudy with patchy drizzle” vibe. Basically, bring a brolly, just in case.
Then, just to keep things interesting, the afternoon’s going throw some showery rain at us. Lovely. Temps will be between 10 and 13 degrees, so it’s not freezing, but definitely grab a light jacket.
Tonight will be mostly dry with some clear bits, although a band of rain’s rolling towards morning, but lows of 7 to 9 degrees are expected, so it’s still pretty mild.
Not a bad weekend, all considered…
Saturday will be breezy with showery rain, but we might get some sunny spells in the afternoon. Temps are climbing to a balmy 12 to 15 degrees, so it’s definitely feeling spring-ish.
Looking ahead, Saturday night’s mostly dry, with some clear skies and Sunday will be dry with sunshine, and temps hitting 12 to 16 degrees.
Enjoy the warmth while you can; next week will be dry overall but cool by day and cold by night “with a return to frost and icy conditions”, according to forecaster.
