Spring Scent Edit: 5 new fragrances all perfume addicts need to try right now

By Katie Mythen-Lynch March 2, 2025March 3, 2025

Spring: It’s not just for swapping out your heavy coats.

It’s the season to reinvent your scent wardrobe, too. This year, forget the same tired florals; the fragrance game is evolving with bold blends that mix unexpected notes, quirky twists, and a dash of daring.

Whether you’re drawn to crisp citrus bursts, mysterious musks, or eco-inspired essences, these five new releases are ready to turn your everyday ritual into an olfactory adventure.

Here’s all the newness dropping now:

1. A blast of seaside freshness from VOYA

Luxury Irish brand VOYA just unveiled two gorgeous new fragrances – one for him and one for her.

Nerolia is a breezy, citrus-kissed white floral with a whisper of sea salt, offering an elegant, all-occasion refresh, while Tempest, a woody, oceanic blend with bright citrus, delivers a sophisticated, modern masculinity. Both (€66) capture the spirit of the sea.

Available online here and in-store at Kilkenny Shop.

2. Roll on summer with La Bougie

One of our favourite Cork-born brands, La Bougie has released a collection of clever rollerball perfumes. La Bougie perfume oils effortlessly glide across your pulse points for a silky feel.

These handy perfume oils slip easily into a handbag or pocket and they’re ideal for your holiday suitcase.

Perfect excuse to try their newest addition, Chocolat: “An unexpected trek through a rainforest in search of a cocoa plantation” with dark traces of chocolate woven with hypnotic jasmine absolute.

La Bougie’s perfume oils are €25 here.

3. Keep it sweet like Sabrina Carpenter

If you like things sweet, Sabrina Carpenter’s first fragrances, out this April, are absolutely for you.

The singer, songwriter, actress, designer, and producer is adding another string to her bow with a debut perfume collection. Inspired by Sabrina’s love of desserts, “Sweet Tooth” by Sabrina Carpenter Eau de Parfum is a fragrance good enough to eat.

The first scent is sweet, yet sophisticated and “reminiscent of the irresistible joy of a candy shop, filled with creamy chocolate, pops of colour, swirls, and sweets”. Developed in partnership with Firmenich, it features notes of chocolate marshmallow, vanilla, Chantilly cream, and sugared musks.

Two further additions, Cherry Baby and Me Espresso will also hit shelves this spring.

Available in April, €50 and €30 from select pharmacies or right now online here.

4. A mysterious flower blooms at Shiseido

Following the success of Ginza and Ginza Night, Shiseido naturally entrusted its latest olfactory creation to perfumer Karine Dubreuil of the Japanese fragrance house Takasago.

It’s inspired by the Datura, one of the most enigmatic flowers in the realm of scent.

“I used a headspace of Datura to bring the purest olfactory facets of this f lower into the fragrance.” Dubreuil explains.

“To give it a magnetic twist, I drew inspiration from the irresistible warm facets of ylang-ylang, blending them with other floral, round, and almond-like notes. At the top, grapefruit adds a sparkling impression. At the base, I opted for an overdose of woods: sandalwood enhances the roundness of the scent, while the note of guaiac wood and sandalwood bring character, mystery, and depth to the signature of Ginza Datura.”

Ginza Datura (€71) will launch in Ireland this March at select pharmacies nationwide.

5. Light up your life

Elie Saab’s Parfum Lumière, a “light in a bottle,” is a masterclass in modern floral woody chypre, crafted by the legendary perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.

This ode to radiant femininity opens with a sun-kissed blend of Italian mandarin and Madagascan ylang-ylang, blooming into a heart of dawn-fresh Indian jasmine sambac and sunset-seductive tuberose.

Kurkdjian pushes the chypre boundaries with a luxurious patchouli heart, ensuring a velvety depth and capturing the essence of Elie Saab’s signature luminosity. Expect a sensual white floral warmth, grounded by a sophisticated, woody embrace.

LE PARFUM LUMIERE is available here.
