Take yourself down West for a Brigid’s Day craft class and a seaweed hot tub

We can almost feel those spring vibes.
If you’re looking for ways to rid yourself of winter, the folks down at Goleen Harbour are planning just the thing.
The venue will be celebrating Imbolc, the beginning of spring, by weaving a Brigid’s Cross and indulging in an afternoon of seaweed baths or sauna followed by a hearty bowl of soup on Saturday, February 1st, 2025.

“We will learn, or refresh your memory, of weaving the traditional four-point cross as well as the less common three-point triangle or interlaced rush cross. A warm bowl of soup and soda bread will be ready when you finish.
“This workshop is suitable for adults and children wishing to try some simple rush weaving.” they announced.

“In honour of St. Brigid’s Day, we are adding freshly harvested seaweed to our wood-fired hot tub! The low spring tide nearest Brigid’s Day has long been revered as a time for seaweed collection, as the waters pull back to reveal the serrated wrack and kelps, aiding the body in slowly waking up from the winter months. We’ll have cold seaweed water for splashing on at the sauna too.”
There is one hot tub session available (for two or four people) at 2.30pm following the weaving workshop. Sauna sessions are at 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm with 45-minute slots.
You can book a workshop and sauna from €40 here with kids tickets, including soup, available at €15.
