A Cork chef has put together a boxed feast for the shortest day of the year

Any plans for the winter solstice?
One Cork chef has come up with a genius way to turn the shortest (and darkest) day of the year into the merriest and brightest.
West Cork-based chef Caitlin Ruth is putting together a Shortest Day Box stuffed with enough delicious food and drinks to turn a dull day into a little party at your kitchen table.
“Celebrate the shortest day of the year with a box filled with homemade cocktail mixes, garnishes, and lots of food to spread out on your table and devour.” Chef Ruth shared on her Instagram feed.
Some of the dishes in The Shortest Day Box will be ready to eat, and some are ready to heat and serve. Instructions are included so the whole thing is very simple.

Expect empanadas, fresh tortilla chips, salsa, cheese, dips, lots of dips, crackers, breads, salads, aubergine pickle, jelly for cheese, purple potato salad, more dips, sushi roll, cornbread, chowchow, and much much more inside.
You’ll be enjoying the leftovers for lunch for days.
Collection is on December 20th in Clonakilty at Deasy’s Public Car Park, from 4pm-6:30pm. You can order your Shortest Day Box (€100) here.
