Missing someone this year? Add a crocheted heart tribute to this city magnolia tree

It’s a lovely way to remember someone special.
This November, Nano Nagle Place is inviting the public to honour cherished loved ones by adding a handmade crochet heart to a stunning display in their garden.
Lovingly crafted by the talented Crochet Ladies of the Lantern Community Project, these hearts will be placed on the remembrance tree, creating a stunning and meaningful remembrance display.
The Crochet Hearts Campaign was born out of numerous requests from the local and global community who sought a way to remember loved ones who have passed. The remembrance tree will serve not only as a visual tribute but also as a shared experience of love and loss that resonates with all who participate.

“We invite friends from near and far to join this heartfelt tribute to loved ones who are gone but never forgotten.” says Helen Geary, Ministry Manager of the Lantern Project, Cork Migrant Centre, Men’s Group and Spirituality Programme.
“Our remembrance tree is a symbol of the deep connections that unite our global community and we are honoured to create this space of reflection and memory at Nano Nagle Place.”
To participate in this dedication ceremony, simply reserve your crochet heart online (donations start at €10) or visit the Gift & Design Shop to reserve your heart in person.
On November 1st the first annual remembrance ceremony will be held in Nano Nagle Place when the resident sisters will bless the hearts and share memories during the ceremony. Then each of the unique hand-crocheted hearts will be placed on the Nano Nagle Place magnolia tree to be displayed for the full month of November.
All donations received will go towards funding the centre, which won the internationally prestigious Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2022.
