Cork’s many runners will enjoy a newly installed feature along the Marina Promenade

It’s a lovely finishing touch.
Cork’s runners will enjoy a new feature currently being installed along the Marina Promenade, which extends 1.8km from Centre Park Road to Blackrock Village.
In a social media post, Cork City Council shared a shot of the new kerbing, which features markers every 100 metres.
“A sneak preview that will interest all the runners out there – our contractors been installing new kerbing along the Marina Promenade with 100-metre markers, which will come in handy in future for your Cork City Marathon speed training!” they said on Instagram.

“The new access road to the rowing clubs, Pairc Uí Chaoimh and Atlantic Pond is nearing completion, with surfacing to be done in the coming week.
“The site also had recent visits from Minister Simon Coveney and Minister Michael McGrath, both visiting Lee Rowing Club. Both ministers took time to meet with the crews on site and view how the project was progressing.”
“Thank you for bearing with us while these works are being carried out.”
When complete, the project will deliver a six-meter-wide pedestrian and cycle corridor with adjoining plazas, riverside balconies, new seating areas, and environmentally sensitive public and feature lighting.
