Every guest at this beautiful Food Gathering will take home a handmade clay bowl

Work has been underway for weeks.
And next weekend, the latest event in the EMPTY BOWLS for Gaza series will take place at St. Peter’s Church, North Main Street.
On Saturday, April 13th from 2pm, attendees at the EMPTY BOWLS Cork Palestinian Food Gathering will receive a beautiful handcrafted clay bowl, one of many made throughout the project at Nano Nagle Place.
The bowls will be filled with Peace Soup on the day, alongside nibbles served to guests.
Led by Irish fine art sculptor and ceramicist, Martha Cashman, the movement in Cork has raised over €3,200 to-date for Médicins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) in Gaza.

Hosted in part by local chef Orla McAndrew, there will be music, poetry readings, collectable art and a number of spot prizes and draws on the day, including bowls made by the actor Mary McEvoy, Darina Allen, and Rory O’Connell, among others.
“This food gathering is a culmination of a huge community collaboration; from the crafting and firing of bowls, provision of food and labour, prizes and funding for Doctors without Borders in Palestine,” said Martha Cashman, event organiser.
“While empty bowls may be a symbol of need and hunger, they are also hopeful and beautiful. Coming together in solidarity with the people of Gaza, to share a food gathering experience with the handcrafted ‘empty bowls’ made from clay will be a unique and very special event in Cork.”
