5 Irish spa staycations to soothe your frazzled soul

By Katie Mythen-Lynch March 8, 2018March 8, 2018

Lads, we made it through Storm Emma.

Take a minute to celebrate surviving the Beat from the East and do something lovely for yourself.

Now is the time to put the lid back on the biscuit tin, pack your togs and escape for a night or two.

Somewhere there’s an entire staycations team primed to look after your every whim as you get yourself together for summer.

Think about it; if your plan was to rediscover your joie de vivre in 2018, you can tick that off your list before spring is even over.

A townhouse for two in Limerick

Slip away to Limerick for some quality time together at One Pery Square, overlooking the handsome, tree-lined People’s Park in Limerick’s historic Georgian Quarter. Their Romantic Spa Escape includes overnight accommodation with A La Carte breakfast, a thermal suite session for two and a couples aroma salts bathing ritual with a glass of bubbles. Afterwards, side-by-side back, neck and shoulder massages, natch.

The details: €129 pps, booking here.

Me time at Monart

Any spa bunny worth her complimentary slippers knows that Monart near Enniscorthy in Wexford is the place to go to un-frazzle.

During the detox, guests enjoy the plush surroundings of the country’s only Destination Spa and a delicious detoxifying food menu, which places the emphasis on cleansing the system, recharging and refuelling the body. Upon arrival ‘detoxers’ can get straight into the relaxing pace with an Indian Head Massage followed by relaxation time in the unique 360 degree dark room. Head for the Sauna Ritual next before hitting the thermal suite and enjoying a light evening meal at the Garden Lounge.

Oh… and make sure you’re hungry for the famous Monart breakfast (everyone wears their fluffy bathrobe)

The details: The 3-day all-inclusive Monart life Detox Programme (including all food, treatments, individual evaluations and a personal trainer) is €479 per person sharing, booking here.

Massages at Muckross Park

If the rolling hills and misty mountains of Kerry are what your soul craves, a one-night break at Muckross Park Hotel & Spa will be just the ticket. Arrive to Afternoon Tea or a main course and fresh juice in the Monk’s Lounge. Then make use of your complimentary bike hire to explore Killarney National Park. Afterwards, hit the spa for a 50-minute massage or facial each and unlimited time dipping in and out of the thermal area and Vitality Pool. Your deluxe double or twin bedroom includes a king size bed, 24 hour room service, Nespresso machine, bathrobes and slippers. Don’t luxuriate too long the following morning; a full Irish breakfast in the Yew Tree Restaurant awaits.

The details: Midweek Sunday – Thursday €175 pps, weekend €190 pps, booking here.

A-OK at The G

Rediscover your zen in Galway’s fabulous G Hotel, where the gloriously dark and sexy thermal suite offers a range of experiences to cleanse the body and mind. ESPA at the g’s Pamper Perfection for two package includes overnight accommodation in a luxe room and a 55-minute spa treatment (the ESPA Intensive Facial, Full Body Massage or Body Wrap). Spend the afternoon in the rooftop relaxation area enjoying a handmade chocolate and a refreshing juice.

The details: From €165 pps, booking here.

Facials at Faithlegg

Kick back and relax in the peaceful surrounds of Faithlegg Estate in Waterford and you can smooth away your wrinkles as part of the deal. The Faithlegg Rejuvenate Break includes one night’s bed and breakfast with a four course evening meal in the Roseville Rooms Restaurant. Your choice of a Four Seasons Organic Facial, Full Body Massage or Reflexology is the bonus here. Once you’re tension-free, decamp to the calming relaxation room for a herbal tea and a long snooze.

The details: €318 per room, booking here.
