Ichigo Ichie is set to reopen with a focus on communal dining

It all sounds delicious.
A new incarnation of the beloved Japanese restaurant, Ichigo Ichie is set for its grand reveal on January 9th, introducing a Japanese twist on tapas as part of its more casual dining transformation.
Speaking to Yay Cork, owner of the all-new Ichigo Ichie Bistro and Natural Wine at Fenn’s Quay, Takashi Miyazaki spilt the bancha tea on the highly-anticipated reboot.
Firstly, prepare for a more laid-back dining experience; deviating from their Michelin-starred fixed-course extravaganza, the focus will be on the Japanese art of sharing plates, called Zensai.
Miyazaki shared his enthusiasm for this venture, emphasising the communal joy of sharing many things, the Japanese way. The revamped space also sees the venue’s iconic chef’s counter transformed into a bustling bar top, promising a much more relaxed atmosphere.
If you fancy a sneak peek at what’s on the menu, there’s a silky and smooth Hiyayakko, a homemade tofu delicacy paired with shiso and ginger, along with edamame pepperoncini featuring edamame, garlic, chilli, black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
There are also hot and cold teuchi soba dishes, showcasing the artistry of handmade buckwheat noodles, and the flavourful donburi, a Japanese rice-bowl sensation.

Adding to the excitement, Ichigo Ichie is introducing a bespoke draught pale ale, brewed exclusively by Cork’s own Original 7 Beverage Co.
This frothy delight has been crafted to harmonise with the diverse flavours on offer and will be an exclusive treat at the Fenn’s Quay bistro.
Secure your table now and be among the first to experience the gastronomic magic of the all-new Ichigo Ichie.
Kanpai!
