Thousands of visitors enjoyed Cork’s iconic Counting House during STAMP Festival
More than 4,000 people dropped by.
STAMP Festival of Creativity brought more than 60 creatives and hosted over 50 art, design, and craft events, as well as three exhibitions, all in one extraordinary venue over the weekend.
The festival showcased The Counting House on South Main Street, which was opened to the public for the first time since the completion in 2021 of a €30m regeneration project.
Benchspace, Cork Craft & Design, Sample-Studios, and Shandon Art Studios joined forces to present a jam-packed programme for all ages to enjoy and the public turned out en masse to support, many excited to get their first peek inside the iconic building.
“We’re blown away by the positive response from over 4000 visitors over the weekend,” said Aoibhie McCarthy, Artistic Director at Sample-Studios.
“Everyone we spoke to commented on the need for a space like this- a permanent central creative hub and a place where our artists can make and present ambitious work.
“We’ve made our case – when we have a space, look what we can do for the city and its people. We’re grateful to our venue partners BAM and funders Cork City Council, The Arts Council of Ireland, and Creative Ireland.”
