At this open social evening, everyone’s invited to help create a huge piece of art
Art is the universal language.
No matter what our background, beliefs, or culture, art has the ability to unite us. If you’re new in town or you’d simply like to meet some new friends, it can help with that too.
That’s the idea behind the new Drawing in the Commons event, hosted by Living Commons Cork. The organisers hope to provide a space for people to get out of the house, come together and create art while connecting over a collective chinwag.
Taking place over three Wednesdays in May, participants are invited to stretch their drawing muscles and “create in collective purpose with others”.
As the sessions progress, newbie artists will see their individual contributions come together to form a large-scale, cohesive work of art which will be exhibited in the Coal Quay Test Site at the end of the month.
So, technically you could be an exhibited artist by the end of May!

The Living Commons is a not-for-profit company that was established in order to enable those in precarious living situations equal participation in social, cultural, economic, and political life.
Their HQ is located on 107 Shandon St, Gurranabraher, Cork and the Drawing in the Commons gatherings take place on Wednesday, May 10th and 17th from 7pm – 8.30pm.
