Grab a coffee and watch 13 choirs perform outdoors on this city plaza

The weather’s looking good.
And if you’re in the mood for a little al fresco entertainment to kick off the May bank holiday weekend in Cork, head for Emmet Place, just outside the Crawford Art Gallery and Cork Opera House, early on Saturday.
As part of the world-renowned Cork International Choral Festival, which continues until Monday, shoppers will be treated to outdoor performances by no less than 13 incredible choirs on Emmet Place.
The choirs will give individual performances from 10.40am to 2.40pm, so you can pick up a coffee or lunch to go and enjoy the music in the sunshine.
The festival, now in its 68th year, is one of the highlights of the Cork musical calendar, with over 5,000 singers and tens of thousands of visitors, bringing Cork alive with the sound of music for the weekend.

Another highlight on Saturday is The Big Sing in Cork City Hall at 12.15pm, where singers of all ages and levels of experience are invited along to be part of the largest choir of the festival.
The best bit? You don’t even need to be able to sing. It’s about lending your voice and experiencing the sheer joy and sense of community that lies at the heart of choral singing. Music and lyrics will be handed out on the day.
