It’s the little moments that we remember.

At the end of the day, time spent together- no matter how big or small the occasion- makes for fond memories later in life.

This weekend, St Luke’s Community Garden is inviting you and your smallies to get your hands dirty at a special event where participants are invited to plant a native hedgerow made up of over 130 trees.

“We are excited to invite you all for our first native tree planting day at St. Luke’s Community Garden,” said a spokesperson for the group on Instagram.

“A wonderful organisation called Trees Please and Trees for the Land are working enthusiastically to bring back diversity and native Irish plants. So on Sunday 26th February, we will come together and plant a native hedgerow using approximately 130 tree saplings of different Irish trees and bushes.”

The aim of the day is to “co-create a green space” in the heart of St Luke’s to encourage pollinators and birds to take up residence.

Once formed, the lush space will be a place where veggies and fruit can grow for all to gather- and the kids can appreciate as both they and the hedgerow sprout.

You can bring the kids along and get stuck in at The Native Tree Planting Day on Sunday, February 26th in St Luke’s Community Garden on Ballyhooley Road from 10am.

Light refreshments and fun are included. Participants are asked to bring their own gloves.
