Like we needed an excuse for a trip.

We can barely walk by Homesense on the Grand Parade without popping in for a sneaky peek at the latest interior goodies that have arrived, but now there’s a legit reason for a shopping trip.

If summer storage options are on your mind, the brand’s gorgeous new range of hand-made baskets from Uganda not only look good… they do good as well.

Produced by the Rwenzori Trading Company, Uganda for Homesense and TK Maxx stores, income from the baskets goes directly to the women who make them to help pay for their children’s education.

Not only is this the most selfless shopping you’ll do this weekend, but there are some really gorgeous styles to choose from, starting from just €16.99 for a trendy dipped-effect set that would be ideal for kitchen or bedroom storage.

The larger baskets are a genius way to hide household clutter, kids toys, spare towels and laundry.

Meanwhile, the wicker woven bowls (from €12.99) are just the thing for displaying fruit, gathering keys and other odds and ends or holding bread for a summer barbecue.

Each colourful hand woven basket is signed by the woman who made it. The money received from the sale of two baskets is the equivalent of a term’s schooling for a child in Uganda.

The best bit? These quality baskets tend to go the distance; you’ll still be finding new uses for your purchases in five years time.

Better bring the car ’round…
