6 fresh Cork Instagram accounts to follow for design inspiration

We’re addicted.
Whether you’ve just signed the mortgage on a fixer-upper or you’re still dreaming of your forever home, Instagram is a treasure trove of brilliant tips and inspiration.
In fact, following the right accounts can help you find craftspeople, handymen and women, makers and doers of all skills and price brackets in your neighbourhood.
If you can tear yourself away from Escape to the Chateau DIY, here are six cool Cork ‘Grammers to follow:
1. OWEN MURPHY @murphs_restorations
Owen Murphy restores old buildings back to their former glory. In his feed he shares deliciously satisfying images of magnificent patios arranged from salvaged slate, hand carved decorative fascia boards, rustic kitchen units and reclaimed fireplaces. We’ve spent at least five minutes just staring at his picture of neatly stacked firewood.
2. MODET @we_are_modet
This lovely Cork-based company make stunning contemporary furniture in their Ballinhassig workshop. In fact, they built the beautiful maple doors in new foodie hotspot Ichigo Ichie and the tables in Good Day Deli at Nano Nagle Place. Follow their Instagram feed for a carpenter’s bench view of what’s happening behind the scenes.
3. CIARA KEELAN @ciara_keelan_concepts
Cork retail visual consultant and interior designer Ciara Keelan helps businesses make their shops stand out and homeowners pimp their properties. Follow her feed for sneak peeks at new projects, mood boards, tips and fabric swatches and oodles of inspiration.
4. FERNGROVE COTTAGE @ferngrovecottage
DIY enthusiast Sally has a knack for taking the simplest sprig of a spring flower and transforming it into something from a fantasy country escape. We live for updates from her whitewashed, flower-festooned 1930s home in West Cork. Expect to find yourself scrambling for glass jars and nipping out to the garden for greenery.
5. SPACES GROUP @spacesgroup
This property development and investment company takes derelict, unloved properties in some of the oldest parts of Cork and transforms them into cool city homes. Watch the transformation as dirty lean-tos become sleek kitchens and overgrown ruins become light and spacious living areas.
6. VINTAGE HILL @vintagehillcork
Aisling has a reputation for helping brides and grooms source the best original vintage china, tableware and venue props, but we can never resist a peek at her feed to catch up with what she’s creating in her own home. Bookmark this one for gallery wall and vintage display inspiration.
