This cafe is opening at 5am to pass out free coffees at Darkness into Light
This is a lovely gesture.
As thousands of walkers prepare to set the alarm for a pre-dawn wake-up call so they can take part in the annual Darkness Into Light walk for Pieta House, one Cork cafe will be opening the shutters to support them.
The crew at the Cortado coffee trailer on the Marina will be firing up the coffee machine extra early at 5am on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 to ensure there’s a steady supply of caffeine available for all the participants.
And as if that wasn’t sound enough, they’ll even be handing out those much-needed coffees completely free of charge to support the event and donating the price of every drink to Pieta House.

“Since 2009, Darkness Into Light has raised almost €29m, which has helped provide amazing mental health support all over Ireland, and in turn has become a global event helping communities far and wide. We are proud to get involved in any way we can.” the Cortado team said.
“Like last year, all coffees and tea will be on the house and we will be donating the price of your coffee to Pieta House.
“We hope to see you all bright and early Saturday morning.”
