New doc examines the experience of giving birth (and you can catch a screening in Cork)

There were 56,000 babies born in Ireland last year.
Now a new documentary is shining a light on the experience of giving birth and how it could be improved for millions of women and babies around the world, and you can catch a screening in Cork in December.
Directed by Jerusha Sutton, Zoe Naylor and Jo Hunter, Birth Time: The Documentary follows the three women as they embark on a mission to find out why an increasing number of new mothers are emerging from their births physically and emotionally traumatised.
Their discoveries expose the truth and lead them to join the birth revolution and forge a movement that hopes to change the face of maternity care in Australia and across the developed world.
“Improving women’s experience of birth helps them set up a stronger bond with their babies, decreases their risk of postnatal depression and encourages them to trust their maternal instincts when it comes to mothering their children.” say the filmmakers.
“Care, connection, respect and trust begin with the mother-baby bond.”
The Cork screening, organised by Mairéad Cronin, will take place on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at 6.30pm at Omniplex Cork in Mahon Point Shopping Centre.
Tickets, €10, are available here.
