FYI: 5 important brunch and lunch updates to note before you make plans for the weekend

Where will we eat?
If that’s the most pressing question on your mind as we hurtle towards the weekend, you’re not alone.
Here at Yay Cork HQ, planning when to do brunch, what time to start and who to invite is basically how we pass those long old hours between Hump Day and Friday.
When it comes to menus, there’s plenty of change afoot right now, so it’s an excellent time to reassess your options if you’ve been hitting the same venue every Saturday morning since June.
Here are five brunch-related FYIs to note for this weekend:
1. It’s all change at OHK
After a bumper summer season, the O’Herlihy’s Kinsale crew is ready for a seasonal regroup. The next two weekends are your last chance to nab a brunch booking until winter, even though they’ll still be open and serving a pared-back selection of gorgeous goodies throughout.
“We will not be taking brunch bookings for the period October 11th – November 25th – our service and kitchen offering will likely change during this time to allow for future food plans, well-deserved staff holidays, and a general seasonal re-group. We will be OPEN with a lighter changing daily menu – very much a return to #casual #cafe #VIBES.” they explained on Facebook.
The Neighbourfood Kinsale Market will be returning on Thursday, October 7th too, opening online for orders this week.

2. Swing by for a slice at Toast
Autumn is the season for coffee and pastries after a brisk stroll. Plan your next dog walking route around Ballinlough and finish up at Toast for a Cajun sambo on Arbutus Bread with smoked Carrigaline cheese, mozzarella, and aioli dip.
There’s some new freshly baked treats on the go too; a Rice Krispy Mars cake, a classic brownie sprinkled with icing sugar and a classic lemon drizzle.

3. Join the virtual queue at Liberty Grill
The Liberty Grill’s indoor brunch is back from Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 3.30pm. Lmited booking space is available (call them on 021 427 1049 to make a reservation) but on the weekends they’re operating on a walk-in only basis.
The set-up is quite handy; there’s no more queuing on Washington Street, just download the Walk Up app, search ‘Liberty Grill’ and join the virtual queue while you potter about within 2km.

4. Try the Lebanese Breakfast at Marina Market
They make some of the best falafel in Cork, but the street food magicians at Sultan have another trick up their chef’s whites; an exotic take on the full Irish.
Sultan’s Lebanese Breakfast is a feast of eggs, rice, delicious salads and meatballs, all served with fresh homemade lemonade. Now open seven days a week at the Marina Market, you can visit from 10am until 8pm.

5. Now you can brunch on Forge Hill
The new Saturday brunch is in full swing at Dwyers Garden Café on Forge Hill.
The fun kicks off with a full menu of poachies, Eggs Benedict, Croque Monsieur and Huevos Rancheros from 9am until 3pm.
If you have room for another Red Strand coffee (it’s what brunch is all about) there’s a selection of freshly baked scones, crisp croissants, desserts, and cakes to tickle your fancy afterward too.
