Cork man Brendan Canty’s music video for Take Me To Church now has a BILLION views

That’s nine zeros, in case you’re wondering.
The music video for Hozier’s Take Me To Church, directed by Cork man Brendan Canty, has officially cracked one billion views on YouTube and Vevo.
Writing on Twitter, Canty said: “Between the Vevo video and the version on his channel, our video for @Hozier has been viewed a billion times on youtube. Not bad for a €1500 video shot in my aunt’s gaff.”

The video – which tells a story of homophobic violence against a young couple in love – was also filmed at Cork’s Iniscarra Dam, surely making it the first ever Cork-based video to crack one billion views on the internet.
Most recently, Canty – who works within the Feel Good Lost collective – made a short film named Christy, which premiered online in June.
