WEATHER: Sunny spells but Met Éireann predicts ‘thundery bursts, with a chance of hail’

Drizzle-dodging has become our new favourite hobby.
And it looks like there’s another soggy weekend ahead, with Met Éireann predicting plenty of showers, the odd clap of thunder, and some rather unseasonable hailstones.
Tomorrow, Thursday will be a cloudy day with just short bright or sunny spells and further scattered showers, with highs of 16 to 19 degrees.
“Rain will push into the southwest overnight, however, accompanied by patches of mist and fog.” said the national forecaster.
“Friday will have a mix of cloud and bright or sunny spells, with showery outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Some heavy and potentially thundery bursts, with a chance of hail, look likely in parts of Munster and south Connacht. Maximum temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in mainly light, occasionally moderate, south or southeast breezes.”

While top temperatures will range between 18 to 21 degrees on Saturday, conditions will be damp and muggy, with frequent showers interrupting the sunny spells.
Heavy showers are expected on Sunday too, but we might see some improvements next week: “Early indications suggest a rather showery set-up for Monday but trending towards somewhat drier conditions towards midweek, away from the northwest.”
