May Bank Holiday Weather: Saturday is your best bet for some outdoor fun this weekend

By Katie Mythen-Lynch April 30, 2021April 30, 2021

It might not be as bad as it looks.

Met Éireann is forecasting a wet and blustery May bank holiday weekend, but there does appear to be some pockets of sunshine in between the downpours.

Showers will increase across Munster later this morning, becoming heavy at times through early afternoon with the risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures will remain between 10 to 12 degrees.

The showers will become isolated overnight with clear spells developing as temperatures drop as low as -1 with a touch of frost and some mist and fog patches.

If you’re planning a walk, Saturday morning is the ideal time to head out.

Mix of cloud☁️& good sunny spells🌤️ this morning, however showers🌦️ will develop through the day, heaviest & most frequent in south of the country with risk of hail & isolated thunderstorms🌩️.

“Mist and fog will clear to sunny spells early Saturday before giving way to scattered showers, once again as the day progresses, some will turn heavy once again with a slight risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.” said a forecaster.

Highest temperatures will range between 10 and 12 degrees.

Scattered daytime showers will continue on Saturday with frost returning Saturday night, however, cloud increasing from the west Sunday will bring wet and windy weather Sunday night and on Monday.
