Surprised walkers report seeing ‘white ball of fire’ flying over the Lough last night

Did you spot anything unusual in the sky last night?
Blackrock Castle Observatory has confirmed that a couple may have witnessed a flaming meteor burning through the sky over Cork on Tuesday.
Local Tony Tobin was enjoying an evening stroll in the area with his wife when they both witnessed the spectacle:
“Walking up Pouladuff Rd about 17.43 with my wife, we both saw what looked like a meteorite.” Tony tweeted.
“It was speeding across the sky over the Lough area. White ball of fire followed by a trail with a flash of red & blue, anyone else see it?
We didn’t hear about a specific fireball, but what your describing sounds very typical of a meteorite burning up :) The colour transition you’re describing in particular sounds very much like a meteorite. We’re jealous! It’s so nice to get a good view of one from the city
