Met Éireann says we’re in for a ‘wet and windy’ week (but temperatures will remain mild)

You’ll be needing a brolly if you’re venturing out this week.
According to Met Éireann, the weather will be wet and windy until Friday, although temperatures will continue to be mild for December.
“Today will be a breezy day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers, which will be heavy at times.” said a forecaster.
Highest temperatures will stay between seven and 10 degrees in Cork.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy as scattered blustery showers continue, and it’s more of the same on Tuesday apart from some brief sunny spells in the morning.
A Status Yellow – Wind warning is in place for Cork, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford from 9pm on Tuesday night until Wednesday at 9am.
“Cloud will push in from the south during the afternoon ahead of rain later in the evening accompanied by strengthening winds.” according to the national forecaster.
Today will be breezy with sunny spells & blustery showers. Showers will be most frequent & heaviest in the west and south, with drier conditions in the east and northeast where showers will be isolated. Highs of 7-10C in moderate to fresh southerly winds. https://t.co/9gKN6SVok4 pic.twitter.com/DsOIWul5Gk

Flood warning
Cork City Council has warned that there will be a period of very high astronomical spring tides from this evening, Monday, December 14th, 2020 until Wednesday, December 16th.
High tides are predicted to cause minor localised flooding along low-lying quays in the City Centre, with a tidal surge and strong south-easterly winds currently forecast to occur on Wednesday morning.
“At this time householders and businesses are advised to take the necessary precautions to protect property and stay tuned for further updates.” said a Council spokesperson.
“Cork City Council have a limited stock of gel-bags and sand-bags available for collection by members of the public and businesses.”
These can be collected from the Council Depot on Anglesea Terrace and Tramore Valley Park (Civic Amenity Site), on the South Link Road.
