Coronavirus: 379 new cases as Irish death toll surpasses 2,000

By Yay Cork November 19, 2020November 19, 2020

There have been 12 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

A total of 69,058 cases of the virus have been recorded in Ireland since the pandemic began, with a further 379 confirmed cases of Covid-19 confirmed last night.

Of the latest cases, 116 are in Dublin, with 27 in Cork, 38 in Donegal, 30 in Meath, 22 in Limerick, 22 in Louth, and the remaining 124 cases spread across all other counties.

174 of the patients are men and 203 are women, with 64% aged under 45. The median age is 36 years old.

Marking the solemn milestone, Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, appealed to the public to adhere to the Level 5 guidelines in place until December 1st.

“Today we sadly report over 2,000 deaths associated with COVID-19 to date in this country.” he said.

“This pandemic has impacted, directly and indirectly, on families and communities all across Ireland.

“It is important that we continue to work together if we are to suppress this virus and protect as many people as possible. For the next two weeks, work from home, stay at home and follow public health advice.”
