There’s a wet weekend ahead, but here’s when you can expect some sunshine in Cork

It’s looking pretty damp.
But in between the showers, drizzle and downpours forecast this weekend, Met Éireann is predicting the odd sunny spell… and it might be enough to get the dog walked.
This morning will continue cloudy and misty with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, but it will turn drier and brighter as the day goes on with sunny spells developing during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures will range between 16 and 22 degrees, warmest in south Munster.
“Tonight will be mostly dry and cloudy, with just a few isolated showers,” says Met Éireann.
“Scattered outbreaks of rain will move into western coastal areas by morning. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light westerly or variable breezes.”

A dry spell on Friday afternoon
On Friday, the advice is to plan your outdoor activities for when widespread rain clears in the afternoon. This dry spell will be followed by scattered showers, with temperatures creeping no higher than 17 degrees.
A sunny Saturday morning
If you’re heading out, Saturday morning is looking dry with sunny spells, but during the afternoon and evening, there will be widespread showers.
“Some showers will be heavy and there is the potential for some thundery downpours too.” says the national forecaster.
“The showers will gradually die out through the evening, leaving sunny spells in most places. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees in the west and north, but reaching 19 to 21 degrees in the south and east.”
The most positive news, weather-wise, is for hay fever sufferers; grass pollen will be at a low to moderate risk for a few days.
