“We can confirm last night’s #Lotto Jackpot was won by a player in Co. Cork!” the Lotto announced on social media.

Service station owner Noel Murphy said he didn’t know if the newly minted millionaire was a solo Lotto player or a member of a syndicate, but the family-run business is planning a week of celebrations to mark the huge win with staff in the store.

A Dublin player scooped the Lotto Plus 2 top prize of €250,000, while two players matched 5 + the bonus number on the Lotto draw, winning €33,723.
