Park rangers and Gardaí will patrol Cork parks and walkways this weekend

It’s tempting to go for a stroll in the spring sunshine.
With strict social distancing measures in place across the country, however, it’s probably best to seek out a quiet spot rather than head to your local park.
Cork City Council has announced that it is deploying park rangers to all of the city’s public amenity areas this weekend, in order to remind visitors to keep a distance of two metres (6.5 feet) between people.
The move is in line with Government advice on restricting gatherings of more than four people, with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar saying the latest “unprecedented actions” are a response to an “unprecedented emergency” and will include an increased Garda presence in public areas.

The HSE advice is to reduce physical interactions and avoid crowded places – main beaches and parks were thronged with people on Mother’s Day so rangers will be keeping a close eye on these spots in the coming weeks.
