FOR SALE: 5 Cork homes with dramatic sea views

By Katie Mythen-Lynch January 30, 2020April 29, 2020

Imagine waking up to this.

If you don’t mind living outside the city, spectacular ocean vistas and a fresh sea breeze could be part of your everyday experience.

Cork’s stunning coastline is peppered with fabulous properties designed and built to maximise their unique perspectives. Many are a stone’s throw from some of the county’s most beautiful beaches or a short spin from the most picturesque country villages too, so not as remote as you might think.

In any case, if you’re looking for a home that takes your breath away every time you open the curtains, there’s plenty to choose from.

Here are five seaside homes for sale in Cork right now:

1. Ardmore, Sunny Height, Cobh, Co. Cork

Asking price: €420,000

Built in 1890, Ardmore is a period property perched up high on Cobh’s Lake Road, capturing the best views. It’s been restored to perfection, with three cosy bedrooms and plantation shutters throughout. The interior boasts original fireplaces, ornate coving, double glazed sash windows and an original front door.

This is a home that’s set up for long summers and al fresco dining; there’s a large patio to the front, a sunroom and a tiered garden to the rear, complete with two more patio areas, a summer house, a dog run, an outside loo, and a laundry room.

The higher you climb in the garden, the more spectacular the view.

2. Inches, Eyeries, Beara

Asking price: €225,000

This traditional five-bed period farmhouse is set on four acres of grounds with stunning views of Coulagh Bay, less than 2km from Eyeries Village, on the Beara Peninsula.

The stone built property has been crafted into a modern home of character in recent years, but all the best features including the beamed and vaulted ceilings, have been preserved.

A spacious single-storey stone workshop is an added bonus and there is also a large barn to the front of the property.

3. Lisnagree, Ballinglanna, Clonakilty

Asking price: €345,000

With uninterrupted views over Ballinglanna Cove, Lisnagreee is a cosy seaside home located about 7km south of Clonakilty town.

The bright interior comprises an open plan living area with kitchen/dining area, sunroom, three bedrooms including master en suite, family bathroom, a study (this could easily be converted into another bedroom) utility room, developed attic and garage.

There’s a Barryroe Co-Op shop nearby for essentials and the area is peppered with beautiful bays and beaches including Dunworley, Blind Strand and Broad Strand.

4. Roaring Water, Millcove, Castletownbere

Asking price: €495,000

Roaring Water is an architect-designed contemporary home that comes complete with its own stream and waterfall – all a stone’s throw from the sea. The 1785 sq ft property includes an entrance lobby with guest loo, an open plan kitchen dining area, a living room with double-height, three bedrooms (walk-in-wardrobe in the master) and a handy laundry chute to the downstairs utility room.

Just 3km from Castletownbere village, the property is also a few minutes’ walk from the local golf course.

5. Murreagh House, Durrus

Asking price: €350,000

Nestled on the inner reaches of Dunmanus Bay, less than a mile from Durrus village, Murreagh House boasts panoramic views of both the Sheep’s Head and Mizen peninsulas. Set on two acres (there are two separate kitchen gardens and a greenhouse ready to provide all the fresh produce you can handle) the property features four bedrooms, two en-suite, and one family bathroom.

There is also a spacious garage and separate office, accessed from the rear of the property.
