It was a ‘lively night’ weather wise. But there’s more rain to come…

It’s hard to believe it’s August.
With weather conditions more suited to November, Cork was drenched in 40mm of rainfall overnight, with thunder and lightning causing power outages across the county.

The bad news is there’s another deluge on the horizon.
Meanwhile, homes in Castlelyons, Roscarberry, Ballydehob, Cobh, UnionHall and Aghada remain without electricity this morning, with long delays approaching the Kinsale Road Roundabout.
The weather in Cork tonight….it’s like the apocalypse 😨😰😵💦💨

Met Éireann is predicting further heavy showers today, with thunderstorms and a risk of hail.
Yes. Hail.
“There is potential for flash flooding and poor visibility in localised downpours.” reports the national forecaster.
#CorkTraffic Please take care it out and about on the roads this morning, expect fallen debris and spot flooding in many areas of #CorkCity and County.

It’ll be humid, with top temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees Celsius and “very windy along the south coast, with strong to near gale south to southeast winds.”
Saturday will be another blustery day with a mix of bright or sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers will be heavy again, with a risk of thunder.
Is it too late to book a sun holiday?
