‘Wine is bottled poetry.’

The Victorian poet Robert Louis Stevenson said that and we’re inclined to agree. That’s why we’ll be grabbing a glass and a stool in Meade’s tonight for a tasty combination of the two.

Today, March 21st, is International Day of Elimination of Racial Discrimination and in honour of the occasion, the local Good Day News magazine has put together a multi-lingual poetry evening called Many Tongues of Cork, a celebration of Cork as a multicultural city.

Drop by Meade’s Wine Bar, 126 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork between 7pm and 9pm to watch international artists share their work, many in their native language.

Confirmed artists include writer Ravnita Joyce, cultural scientist, translator and poet Rosalin Blue, Croatian writer Ana Špehar and Pakistani law graduate and musician Asad Mahmud.

Pratibha Patil, Mummy Harmony, Akshay Ranade, Marea Mammano and Constantine Calugaru will also perform. Check out the line-up on Facebook.
