9 reasons we are obsessed with this €2 all-purpose cleaning product

We can’t get enough of the stuff.
Now that ‘Flu season is upon us, we’ve become near obsessive about blitzing germs.
But this year, the relentless bacteria-fighting buzz is a little bit more fun… and it’s all because of Zoflora, a €1.49 cleaning solution that’s been around for donkeys years.

On the market since 1922 (yeah, really), Zoflora has an entirely new following lately after the blogging domestic goddess Mrs Hinch (aka Essex influencer Sophie Hinchliffe) started extolling its many virtues on Instagram.
Now Hinchers (Mrs Hinch’s 2.4m loyal followers) are spreading the word among us civilians about the little bottle of deliciously scented formula that kills 99.9% of bacteria.

In fact, it’s even got its own Instagram fan pages, where you can find out about even more clever tricks and uses for your Zoflora stash.
Sadly, only a limited selection of Zoflora’s many fragrances seem to be available in Cork (we’ve heard tales of fans bringing ‘Pink Grapefruit’ and ‘Winter Spice’ home from the UK in their luggage)
It’s officially peak Zoflora, so you’ll need to keep a beady eye on the supermarket shelves (word has it Dunnes tend to keep it on the lowest shelf in the cleaning product aisle) to nab yourself a bottle.
Dealz and SuperValu are also known to stock it.

Here are six reasons we’re buying up all the Zoflora stock in Cork:
1. It makes everything smell magical
Pop one tiny capful of Zoflora in a spray bottle full of water and use it to wipe down your kitchen counters throughout the day. As well as being germ free, the entire room will smell amazing.
2. It kills germs
Dab some diluted Zoflora on a cloth and use it to wipe down door knobs, TV remote controls, cupboard handles and light switches – all the areas where germs congregate.
3. You can use it in the wash
Add a cap of Zoflora to your washing machine drawer to kill bacteria in the drum – especially when washing towels, bed linen and pet bedding.
4. It’ll keep your floors sparkling
Add your favourite Zoflora disinfectant to a mop bucket of water, and use to mop over hard floor surfaces. (Keep pets away from the area until dry).
5. … and sanitise your shower
A study by Zoflora found that a shower head had 300,000 times more bacteria than a set of front door keys. Remember, bacteria thrive in warm, damp places. Unscrew the shower head and soak in a bucket of diluted Zoflora to kill the germs that can build up in this hard-to-reach area.
6. It’s a treat for your sponges and cloths
Every night before bedtime, take a hint from Mrs Hinch and add a capful of Zoflora to your sink. Top up with a kettle of boiling water and soak your dishcloths and sponges overnight – the next morning your kitchen will smell fresh as a daisy.
7. Blitz your bins
Next time you take out the rubbish, give your bins a rinse with a capful of Zoflora – no more nasty odours.
8. Enjoy a lovelier loo
Toilets harbour thousands of harmful bacteria and germs. For the ultimate toilet cleanse, pour a capful of neat Zoflora into the toilet after flushing and use the toilet brush to swish it around the bowl. This will kill bacteria, neutralise odours and leave a long lasting fragrance in the bathroom.
9. Refill your diffusers
If your reed diffuser has run out, add a capful of your favourite scent and top it up with water.
