Summer is basically here.

While we might be missing a bit of sunshine and the skies could be bluer, the most important thing is that the seasons have already shifted in Cork’s more creative eating and drinking spots.

There are new bakes, bites and boozy creations popping up all over the place and these muggy, kinda dull evenings are actually ideal for sloping off into town to try them.

Here are five things to eat and drink first:

1. The savoury croissant at Diva

Off to the beach? Hit Diva in Ballinspittle for a brown bag of savoury croissants to take with you; we’re talkin’ flakey crispy croissant dough filled with three kinds of cheese, topped with caramelised red onion and basil pesto.

2. The Crunchy Biscoff at Alchemy

3. The Matcha Cream Bun at OHK

It’s almost a shame to eat the Matcha Cream Bun at O’Herlihy’s Kinsale, but you can always pick up one of their Black Forest Cookie Sambos to devour later too.

4. The Bookshelf Eggs Benny

A glorious take on the classic, the Bookshelf Eggs Benedict involves honey and mustard glazed ham topped with basil and parmesan hollandaise and crispy leeks. If you haven’t tried it, nap your table today.

5. The Summer Strawberry Tartlet at Good Day Deli
