3 vibey spring classes and workshops to put you in sunshine mode

Winter begone.
The summer countdown is on and it’s time to leave the Netflix bingeing and doom-scrolling behind and venture out in search of something new.
Happily, a bunch of Cork creatives are planning some gorgeous mornings and afternoons where you can soak up all the spring sunshine and try your hand at making something beautiful and learning a new skill while you’re at it.
Here are three vibey workshops and classes guaranteed to kickstart your spring awakening:
1. Take a Masterclass with The Flowersmith (and stay for lunch)
Up at The Pavillion in Ballygarvan, Kelly O’Sullivan (aka The Flowersmith) is hosting a morning masterclass on Friday, March 28th.
Kelly will share her artful, design-led approach to creating seasonal planters and demonstrate how to apply the same design principles she uses in her signature cut-flower centrepieces, to craft a living arrangement that feels both harmonious and nature inspired.
“Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed with a hot beverage and freshly baked scones and after the demonstration, a specially crafted two-course seasonal lunch, created by Pavilion Chef David Rice, will be served.” they told us.
Only 50 seats are available so if you’re booking as a Mother’s Day treat, get your tickets (€85 each) here.

2. Weave a basket in Ballydehob
If you find yourself down West on March 16th, you can take a Coiled Baskets workshop with Sonia Caldwell from 12pm to 5pm at Kilcoe Studios in Ballydehob.
“Learn how to make a basket from materials you can gather your self from the local area , including rushes and brambles, using the ancient coiling technique.” Sonia explains.
“Brambles are the traditional material used for making coiled baskets and bee skeps in Ireland. They do require preparation that can take time, but result in a rewarding project that you can go back to each year with just materials gathered nearby. We will also discuss different materials that can be used for these baskets during the workshop.”
Everyone will make a small rustic basket that can be continued at home or left small and there will be a break for a well deserved cup of tea or coffee too.
The workshop cost €70 and booking is open now here.

3. Try wreath making over coffee in Midleton
In East Cork, Laura Beasley of Paper Daisy is hosting a Spring Wreath Workshop at the gorgeous Studio Five, Midleton on Saturday morning, March 29th, offering a chance for guests to create their own unique wreath using a mix of fresh and dried flowers.
Each participant will design something completely personal, with expert guidance, seasonal blooms, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a lovely way to celebrate spring, enjoy some mindful creativity, and even make a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift.
Tickets are €80 including all materials, sweet treats and coffee over here.
