3 really gorgeous Cork classes and workshops for anyone who LOVES flowers

By Katie Mythen-Lynch June 24, 2025June 18, 2025

Alright, Cork flower fanatics.

If your heart beats for blooms and you dream in petals, then you’re going to love these three absolutely gorgeous classes and workshops happening right here in Cork.

Flower crafting, or floristry, offers a surprising number of mental health benefits, making it much more than just a pretty hobby.

The act of arranging flowers is inherently meditative. Focusing on colours, textures, and shapes, and the repetitive movements of cutting and placing, can act as a natural distraction from worries, calming the mind and lowering stress hormones like cortisol.

Get ready to unleash your inner florist:

A Dahlia Plant Pop-Up at Interiosity

Dahlias are those amazing flowers that come in just about every shape, size, and wild colour combo you can imagine – basically, they’re the supermodels of the summer garden.

If you’d like to know more about growing them, arranging them and enjoying them at home, the creative crew at Interiosity in Douglas has just the treat. On June 28th, they’ll be hosting the Flowersmith, Kelly O’Sullivan for a special Dahlia Plant Pop-Up.

“Join us for a morning surrounded by blooms, beauty, and brilliant company.” they announced.

The event begins at 10am on June 28th at Interiosity, St. Patrick’s Woollen Mills, Douglas.

A Floral Retreat at Howe Hill Farm

Down in Kilbrittain, renowned wedding florist Flicky Howe is hosting an exclusive, one-day floral retreat on Sunday, August 17th, 2025. Limited to just four attendees, this intimate workshop offers a unique opportunity to spend the day touring the Howe Hill gardens, harvesting flowers, and designing your own stunning artistic centrepiece or a beautiful bouquet.

You’ll enjoy delicious food and engaging conversations about all things floral and gardening. Later, Kate Bean Photography will capture your creative process and finished masterpiece, providing you with a suite of professional images for your website, social media, or portfolio.

This immersive experience, priced at €450 (including lunch, refreshments, tools, vessel, flowers, and professional images), is perfect for anyone who loves flowers, from seasoned florists to passionate enthusiasts. Bookings are now open here.

On Friday, June 27th, you can capture flowers and foliage in your own mini botanical and clay plaster cast in Doneraile Park.

Áine Farrell of Art for the Heart will be leading the €25 class and the reliefs make great gifts and lovely wall pieces, a memento of your creative day immortalised in plaster.

The class runs from 12pm-13.45pm and you can book a €25 ticket here. Take a stroll around the stunning gardens afterwards.
