3 rather marvellous things to eat and drink in Cork this weekend

Here we are again.
With another week over, at the very least we can say that January is almost behind us. Surely that deserves some kind of celebration, especially if yours was a dry start to the year or you went (*gulp*) sugar-free for a while.
Whatever way you choose to mark this momentous occasion, make sure you have something fantastic to eat or drink over the weekend, if only to break up the ‘same ‘ole, same ‘ole’ monotony of life in lockdown.
Here are some suggestions:
1. How about a coffee stout at Bradley’s?
Are you a coffee-loving stout fan with a penchant for sweets? Boy, are you in luck. Bradley’s has just received a delivery of Yorkshire-based Vocation Brewery’s Double Frappé Salted Caramel & Coffee Stout and if that doesn’t add a bit of pizzazz to your weekend I don’t know what will.
“The coffee enhances the chocolate flavours of dark malt and complements the sweet salted-caramel finish.” say the Vocation crew. “Rich and full-bodied, this luxurious stout is best enjoyed slowly.”
The specialist off-licence and food store on North Main Street has the cans in stock right now, so hop to it.
While you’re in there, pick up a few ready meals from the new Sage 2 G0 range by Chef Kevin Aherne of Midleton’s Sage restaurant. The Pork Pot (slow-cooked, stroganoff style with lemon) is top-notch.

2. Home Dining is back at Liberty Grill
Washington Street’s Liberty Grill is back with a €30 three-course Home Dining menu every Friday and Saturday. Pick your dishes from the menu here (the slow-roasted New England Corned Brisket looks outrageously good) and they’ll deliver to your door within the city on a Friday or Saturday afternoon – simply pop the food in the oven to finish before devouring.
For menu queries and order email [email protected] You can order wine and beer too.
Thank you so much for the fantastic response to our 1st weekend of HOME DINING

3. My Goodness, where good things come in threes
Cinnamon rolls are the Tom Hanks of baked goods; most people love them and at the very least they never offend anyone. Now My Goodness has launched a vegan, raw version so literally everyone can get in on the cinnamon roll action.
In even more exciting vegan news, MG has brought back their corn masa pupusas, stuffed with black beans and topped with curtido slaw, fermented cabbage salsa, kimchi pico de gallo, notcho cheeze, sour cream, salad, and jalapenos. If you’re within 5km of the English Market or the Mahon Point Market, you’re in business.
But wait… that’s not all; they’re also extending their Veganuary deal (one drink, one truffle, and one main for a tenner) into February.
