3 adorable pet-friendly Cork cottages you can rent by the week

Dogs are brilliant fun on holidays.
With a world of new smells to enjoy, there’s also long walks on the beach, energetic hikes through the fields and mountains, and hours of extra family time to revel in – that’s basically everything the average dog adores.
Here’s the rub; most Airbnb and weekend rental properties have a strict ‘no pets’ policy, which means many canine companions get left off the staycation invitation list.
Happily, there are a few spots where well-behaved animals are welcome. Here are three lovely Cork cottages where you can book a stay with a furry friend in tow.
1. Acres of Tranquility, Schull
From €500 per week here, sleeps 10
Craving a seaside escape with acres of space? Acres of Tranquility is a dog-friendly family hideaway that’s ideal for making memories in.
The house has two double rooms (one ensuite), one room with three single beds and the fourth bedroom with a double bunk bed.
A two-minute stroll through the back trail will bring you to a quiet pier (perfect for a picnic, fishing from the rocks or swimming in the sheltered cove). The area offers fantastic countryside and coastal walks too; stroll towards the Napoleonic tower on Ceann Con for a magnificent view of Roaring Water Bay or amble down to Gunn Point to pick mussels from the rocks at low tide.
Evenings can be spent chatting around the wood-burning stove, or reading in front of the open hearth. The kitchen is well equipped (down to a lobster pot) and there’s a range of books, DVDs and board games for all ages.
Ten minutes drive west brings you to the sandy beach of Ballyrisode or Goleen village- the gateway to the Mizen, Barleycove, and Crookhaven.
2. The remote hideaway in Eyeries
Cost: From €316 per week here
If absolute peace and quiet is what you’re after, pack up your pup and head for this pet-friendly detached cottage at the foot of the Slieve Miskish Mountains on the Beara Peninsula.
About 1.5 km from the village of Eyeries and its lovely multi-coloured houses and panoramic views over the Atlantic, the house is strolling distance from two pubs, a shop, a café, a restaurant, and a post office.
You can while away your days on epic walks with your canine companion along the Beara Way.
3. The Phoenix Pet-Friendly Cottage, Castletownshend
Cost: From €470 per week here
With four bedrooms, a modern kitchen, free wifi, and an enclosed garden, The Phoenix is a comfortable terraced cottage in the heart of the small village of Castletownshend.
There are two double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, plus one twin and one adult bunk bedroom, sleeping eight people in total – ideal for a group getaway. It’s dog-friendly and a baby gate is available in the property to prevent dogs from going upstairs.
