A Cork maths coach is offering his brilliant Back-to-School Course for FREE

By Yay Cork August 20, 2026July 30, 2026

Brought to you by Breakthrough Maths.

Got a stressed-out student in the house?

Making the big jump to First Year or Fifth Year? Or just getting ready to tackle the new school year?

You’re not alone. That’s exactly why so many parents are signing their teens up for Breakthrough Maths’ hugely popular Back-to-School Course.

The free three-day live online course has earned thousands of glowing reviews from parents and students who say it helped calm first-day nerves, build confidence and make maths feel a whole lot less daunting before the school year even begins.

It’s run by the team behind Breakthrough Maths, the online grinds school founded by Cork tutor TJ Hegarty during lockdown. What started with just eight students in a small hall in Glanmire has grown into a thriving online community of more than 1,000 students every week, with thousands of five-star reviews along the way.

In fact, over one million people watch TJ’s videos every week, and over 7,000 students improved their maths with Breakthrough Maths last year.

So, what does the Back-to-School Course involve?

The idea is simple – and brilliant.

Instead of diving straight into a brand-new school year and trying to keep up from day one, students get a head start by learning some of the maths they’ll be covering before school even begins.

Over three live online classes, starting on Monday, August 24th, students get a taste of what’s ahead, helping them start September feeling more prepared and confident.

Best of all? It’s completely free.

During the course, the Breakthrough Maths team covers:

  • Smart exam strategies and exam-style questions
  • An introduction to new topics
  • Common mistakes students make (and how to avoid them)
  • Confidence-building practice questions

Think of it as less “panic revision” and more “starting the school year one step ahead.”

When can I join?

The Back-to-School Course takes place over three afternoons:

  • Monday, August 24th
  • Tuesday, August 25th
  • Wednesday, August 26th

Primary School classes for 5th Class and 6th Class begin at 1pm.

For Junior Cycle students, 1st Year classes begin at 1pm, while 2nd Year, 3rd Year Higher Level and 3rd Year Ordinary Level classes all start at 12pm.

Leaving Cert students can join 4th Year, 5th Year Higher Level and 6th Year Higher Level classes at 12pm, while 5th Year Ordinary Level and 6th Year Ordinary Level classes begin at 1pm, making it easy to find a class that suits every year group and level.

Because it’s fully online, students can join from the comfort of home, with no travelling or extra stress involved.

Ready to give your child a confident start to the new school year? You can book your free place today at breakthroughmaths.ie.
