You can learn to forage in one of Cork’s prettiest city parks in August

Listen up, city-based nature lovers.
Ever wondered which plants growing around Cork are actually edible? Turns out, there’s a walk for that.
A foraging walk through Fitzgerald Park is taking place on Saturday, August 15th, giving curious Corkonians the chance to discover the edible and medicinal plants growing right under our noses.
Hosted by Ferment Forage Grow, the morning experience will be led by fermenter, forager and gardener Chloe Dempsey, who’ll guide participants on a gentle stroll through the park while sharing tips on identifying common wild plants and explaining how they’ve traditionally been used.
The event is designed with beginners in mind, so you don’t need any previous foraging experience to take part.

As if a peaceful walk through one of Cork’s prettiest parks wasn’t enough, snacks will also be provided along the way, making it a lovely way to spend a summer morning outdoors.
Whether you’re looking to reconnect with nature, learn a new skill or simply fancy a different kind of weekend activity, this could be one of the more unique events happening in Cork next month.
It’s all part of Cork on a Fork Festival, and you can nab a ticket (€27.79) over here.
