This dreamy lavender festival on a Cork island looks like something out of Provence

This one is guaranteed to be relaxing.
If you love to be enveloped by the soothing scent of lavender, the Cape Clear Lavender Festival (Féile Lus Liath Chléire) returns for its third year on Saturday, June 27th, to Sunday, June 28th, 2026.
More than 5,000 lavender plants flourish across Ireland’s southernmost inhabited island, supporting a thriving community enterprise involving local growers, producers, crafters, hospitality businesses and residents.

Visitors to the island can enjoy everything from lavender-infused gin, soaps, skincare products, candles and honey to culinary products created using lavender grown and harvested on Cape Clear. Festival-goers can also sample Cape Clear Lavender Gin, produced by Cape Clear Distillery, Ireland’s first and only island distillery.
“The Cape Clear Lavender Festival is really a celebration of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared idea,” said founder Joe Driscoll.
Take a guided walk
Guided walks and farm visits will take visitors through the island’s lavender plots, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how lavender is grown, harvested and transformed into the products at the heart of the “Cape Grown, Cape Made” initiative.
Hands-on workshops will allow participants to create their own lavender-inspired keepsakes while learning about the craft behind the products. Festival-goers can also meet the growers, producers and craftspeople driving the initiative, and you can check out this year’s schedule here.
Book early if you’re planning on heading along – ferry times and travel information (a return ticket is around €23 for adults and €12 for kids) can be found over here.
