A delightful all-ages outdoor guitar lesson is back for summer in a Cork park

Honestly, this sounds like a pretty lovely way to spend a summer evening.
A local guitar tutor is running laid-back outdoor guitar sessions in Fitzgerald’s Park every Tuesday and Wednesday this summer — and absolutely everyone is welcome, whether you’re a total beginner or already know your way around a few chords.
The drop-in sessions, called Guitar in the Park, are hosted by Alastair Douglas, a singer, songwriter and guitarist with more than 30 years of teaching experience.
Classes kick off this week at 7pm on Tuesdays for beginners and 7pm on Wednesdays for improvers.
“With an emphasis on enjoyment and community, Guitar in the Park offers a chance to experience the joy of music in a beautiful outdoor setting.” Alastair told us.
“We will explore some warm-up exercises and guitar techniques before diving into some songs that we can play as a group. The songs and exercises will be matched to each individual’s ability and preference, with a focus on learning about and progressing on the guitar.
“After the class, a video will be provided with step-by-step instructions on what we covered.”
Bring your guitar, find a spot on the grass, and enjoy a bit of music in the evening sun. You can book a €12 class here.
